Not Afraid of Using Tools

When Petra was young she loved being in her fathers workshop. She wanted to know everything about the tools he had as a carpenter and little by little she learned the names and functions of the tools. Later she started to make furniture herself.

Now, many years later, there are few furniture makers active, as making a dovetail is time-consuming and assembling an IKEA piece of furniture is much easier. Many of the skills are lost or losing over time. In the sculpture Not Afraid of Using Tools, Petra expresses her respect for the skills of people who are able to create refined work.
