Floating Lotus
As part of the series Focus on the Lotus Floating Lotus is one of the three sculptures that are created out of the natural clay of the Red River in Vietnam. As this clay has other properties then the clay that was used for the other sculptures, Petra worked differently. That is why all three of them have a different appearance comparing to the others, and are created in a natural, intuitive, almost fluid way.
Floating Lotus thanks her name on the pieces of prints of the lotus that are floating on her dress. Besides, her base consists out of prints of two lotus leaves that where picked from the plants in her garden when Petra was living in Hanoi.
