Focus on the Lotus
The Lotus flower is the national flower of Vietnam. It is known as the flower of the dawn, and is the symbol of purity, commitment and optimism for the future. It is found from the North to the South in the muddy water of lakes and ponds. Most parts are utilized in cuisine, tea and medicine. Lotus silk can be made from thin threads that appear when break through the stem.
The flower has inspired many artists and can be found back in architecture, symbols, danses and songs. Petra was also greatly inspired by this flower. Instead of on the flower she focused on other parts of this stunning plant. She used the interesting shapes created by nature and reshaped them into a woman’s body to express our direct relationship with nature and earth.
